2000 Vauxhall Vectra GSi Estate review from UK and Ireland
"Forget the badge snobbery, this is a terrific driving machine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front right hand woofer has blown once.
Notice that another correspondent has written about the same failure, so guess it may be a weakness.
Nothing else has failed at all.
General comments?
What a great machine.
So glad I chose this over the other obvious performance estate options.
Drove it right across Germany a few weeks ago, and found the mile munching ability incredible. Quiet, comfortable, and with an easily attained top speed of well over twice the UK motorway limit, plus terrific roll-on acceleration in 5th gear, this car is a wonderful high speed express.
Great on the twisty bits too, with far more steering and brake feedback, grip, and adjustability than the SRi Estate I had beforehand.
2nd and 3rd gear give terrific overtaking punch and a touring car like bellow from under the bonnet.
Downsides? Only really the very firm ride when on badly maintained roads, and rate with which the (expensive) Yokohama tyres are wearing out, but then both of these were expected.
