2005 Vauxhall Vectra Life from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Powerful, but not designed for twisty roads."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Apart from the top radiator securing nuts coming loose everything has been fine.

General comments?

My company changed from Ford to Vauxhall so I opted for the new Vectra, I decided to go diesel as the new euro4 engines are far lower tax than petrols.

Performance wise the new TDi's have far more midrange power than an equivalent petrol so get used to seeing a diesel pull away from you on the motorway.

Plenty of gadgets and well thought out steering wheel controls for the stereo.

Traction control, ABS and cruise control are standard, a six speed gearbox is also standard on the diesel models.

Seats are a little hard and take a while to get used to.

Road holding is sloppy compared to a Mondeo, far too much body roll when cornering hard.

Sounds good.

So Vauxhall's ad campaign could be "Get a Life!"
