2003 Vauxhall Zafira Comfort review from UK and Ireland
"Reliable to a point, quick, good at towing, a nice car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear brake calipers.
ABS pump.
Glow plugs.
General comments?
The car was 2 years old when we bought it from a main dealer, but the brake calipers at the back stuck on after 2 weeks, resulting in the discs and pads needing replacing, thankfully under warranty as the total was £1200.
The glow plugs died, and this was again done under warranty.
Major problem with the brakes recently, the ABS light would come on and then go off again at random, then all of a sudden when slowing down there would be a load twanging noise, the whole car would shudder and the brakes would fail completely, not fun! The problem was a faulty ABS pump unit, £700 plus fitting so we part-exed it for a newer shape 1.9 CDTi.
I liked the car, it was quick, could tow our caravan or large box trailer with no problems. It didn't drink oil or fuel like some people have reported, we had nearly 2 years of reliable transport, and I would have another!
