I had problems with a Corsa and the engine management light. Turned out that as soon as we replaced the air flow meter in the exhaust it was fixed - £20 at the outside.
I do have a problem with my Zafira - the fuel gauge is a liar! It swings between 3/4 and 1/4 - big difference!!!
Haven't investigated how much this would cost to repair - hope it is a fuel gauge thing rather than a fuel tank thing!!!
Hi all. I too have a 2001 1.6 16v petrol Zafira..
Now where do I start? Had it 2 weeks and the dash lights stopped working; turned out to be a faulty dash; I got one from the breakers.
A week later the power steering quit, which I've been told they are known for it.
On the petrol gauge thing, I'm glad I read it on here, I thought it was just mine. One minute 1/4 full, the next light is flashing, and have run it empty at one stage. And also as someone said in a earlier post, mine to jumps a bit at lights and then takes off strange.
To be honest, I don't know if I would buy another one. Wish I had read up about it first.
Hi, We have just had our ZAFIRA 2.2 SRI recovered from a catastrophic engine failure on a dual carriageway at 60 mph! Just think of a loud bang, clouds of smoke from the exhaust and a river of oil trailing behind.
This is a 54 plate car, which has full Vauxhall service history and has done approx 80k.
We have been quoted £4,000 (Yes, you did read that correctly!) by the main dealer (Vauxhall) the car was towed to.
Initially one thinks bad luck etc etc. Having spent yesterday afternoon on the web, it is now pretty clear that there is an issue with some Vauxhall engines, in particular the z22se.
The problem relates to the timing chain, which appears to snap at any point, even low mileage cars, causing fatal damage to the engine. Vauxhall are aware of this problem in a range of their models.
If you have the time have a look at www.cavweb-forums.co.uk and even a website devoted to this engine at www.z22se.co.uk!
We have always had Vauxhalls, my father in law worked there for 36 years and the family qualifies for Vauxhall partner privileges. After reading all the forums, there is no way that we are ever going to buy a Vauxhall again.
