1998 Volkswagen Beetle diesel review from North America
"Cute and not reliable diesel as vw use to be"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At about 40k power door out and not warranty.
Gas cap power out and not warranty.
I am not fat 110 pound, my leather seat cracking
about 60k.
Flasher relay out.
Engine relay change twice,$200 each time.
Intake manifold clog replace at 70k mile cost$1600,
not to mention the COST $$ to find the culprit of
engine lite on so many time BEFORE MANIFOLD REPLACE.
Dealer said car need to be driven long distance.
Ac not cold and yearly fix.
Always use mobil 1 every 3000 religous mile change,
non abuse drive still at 90k miles my top end make
noise.
Like the style,quality suck.
General comments?
Cabin is roomy
i like the curby look and reduce wind noise
seat is comfort
paint chip at engine hood do to the curby style
more than regular car, i have porsche and having same problem.
I not buying diesel vw,gas maybe.
I should buy extended warranty for this diesel.
