1999 Volkswagen Beetle review from North America
"Bugs suck!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Well first off, when I got the car, the dealer sold me a lemon. I had a lot of problems as soon as I got it.
The first problem was that the car would not shift out of park.
In the year that I have had it, the paint has peeled off on the inside door panels.
The driver side window fell into the door, and I had to have the window regulator replaced.
The speakers blew.
The trunk only opens half the time.
The air only blows cold when you are moving.
The alarm goes off, even when you put the key in the ignition.
Since my car is white I call it Herbie.
The interior lights go on and off at random times.
Cruise control broke.
It sucks a lot of oil and more gas than what you think it takes; more than $40.00 to fill up the tank.
My boyfriend is a mechanic and he hates to work on my car. He says everything is hard to reach, and everything is so complicated. I guess I should be lucky he doesn't charge me labor.
General comments?
It handles well and the interior is really roomy.
