1999 Volkswagen Beetle GLS? review from North America
"It is a fine car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have had issues.
Relay 109 was a problem until I saw it on the web.
Timing belt is much more involved than a wabbit was. I've got to see the dealer man (still looking for the TDI's favorite shop).
Filters, lights, and window / door problems are rather simple.
Starter was easy enough.
Tie rod ends were a simple replacement.
I almost enjoy doing the brakes on this car (I'm certain I should have replaced all of the fluid by now).
Damn good car. Too low.
Picked-up 4 steel wheels (take offs) from a dealer and mounted snow tires on them. This makes an easy switch for winter / summer.
A great car in the snow. Great car in the snow. Car, Snow - Great. That is all from New England.
General comments?
Ooh, I sure wish I had read ahead.
By the way, I am blown away by the room in this Bug when the back seats are down. Good car, great in the snow HA.
