Not for drivers that have great expectations on speed or comfort.
Mostly for retro lovers and people who know how to enjoy a ride with their almost "handmade toy".
I agree completely with you. These are simple, reliable, and fuel efficient little cars. Be gentle with cars and they will hold up. Keep almost any car well maintained and they will last forever. Listen to the body and engine, and learn the different sounds of the engine for whatever trouble you might have, and you will know what to fix. The Bible says "Do unto others as others would do unto you." In car talk, this translates to "Treat a car with respect, and you will not have problems. But if you mistreat a car, you will be plagued with problems."
