Transmission linkage.
Shifter bucket and shifter works repaired and replaced.
Shift shaft rod replaced.
Shorted out mass air flow sensor replaced.
Cattier & levers replaced.
Replaced shift assembly. shift rods and replaced clutch disk pressure plate and release bearing.
All automatic window switches replaced.
Check engine light has come on so often I cannot remember the number of times. Most of the time the computer just needed to be reset/cleared.
Hood ornament (V.W. emblem came off)
Install replacement followers. Set to manufacturer's specs.
Struts replaced.
Replaced alternator.
Replaced battery.
Replaced starter.
Tabs that hold floor mats in place were replaced.
Window motor replaced.
All other repairs are in another file that I do not have access to at the time of filling this out, but there are more.
Based on my knowledge of German engineering and VW in particular, I bought this car. I never imagined the problems I would experience.
Last year alone, I spent more than $3000.00 in repairs.
Our 98 tdi beetle was purchased because of so called reliable German engineering.
Well we replaced the battery after one year, the headlights
3 times each side, the window switch once, the turbo charger once, the brake switch and assorted bulbs many times.
We had carbon removed from a pipe only months after the turbo was replaced. Now the rad has a leak and must be replaced. After market price $787.00 canadian.
If we were to add the cost of repairs and the maintenance such as timing belts and water pump it would add up to an American economy car wich is what we had before this car.
Mercury Topaz never a problem.
The fuel filler door freezes in cold weather.
I will not buy another vw.

It might be German engineering, but it's built in Mexico by workers on $5/day so that VW can charge as much as the market will stand and create huge profits for shareholders and huge salaries for directors.
