1972 Volkswagen Beetle 1300 review from UK and Ireland
"A great car with a lot of character.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car had a common problem with the crank oil seal failing, so the engine needed to be dropped out and a new seal fitted. This sounds like a major job, but on a beetle it can be done in a short space of time with the correct tools.
General comments?
The car is fantastic for its age, for a 33 year old car to start first time each and every morning and still provide impressive fuel economy as well as that beetle fun factor you get from driving it each and every day.
I think with a Beetle it's a car you either love, or hate. Personally I love them as I grew up wanting a beetle and when the chance arrived to own one that was a good example I had to have it. It doesn't have many (should that be any) creature comforts compared to modern cars, but it does have a few nice touches like an automatic choke etc.
