1990 Volkswagen Corrado 16V review from UK and Ireland
"Stylish now, and a future classic"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front wheel bearings at 50,000 miles.
Door handles (thin metal part breaks) at 80,000 and 117,000.
Read calipers at 50 & 60,000 miles.
Cambelt tensioner at 100,000 miles.
Water hoses at 60,000 miles.
Cambelt lasts 50,000 miles (I changed mine at 94,000 miles after it snapped. Normally does lots of damage to the pistons).
Clutch lasts a long time (still on the original at 120,000 miles).
General comments?
Interior wears extremley well.
Aftermarket (non-VW) exhausts don't last well, especially back boxes (only about 18 months before failure).
