1989 Volkswagen Corrado 16v review from UK and Ireland

Fuel filter blocked causing car to start, but then cut out.

Mpg counter dosnt work

ocassionally when starting, starter will go about 1 rotation and not start vehicle, but if you try again it will be fine!!

O/s/r brake calipar seizing

when pulling away you get a clunking, sounds like engine mount, but havnt got round to changing it yet

dipstick and guide were snapped

oil filler cap cracked

top strut mounts excessive play

engine tends to run a bit hot sometimes around 90-100 degrees!!changed coolant not much change!

OVERALL QUITE A BIT NEEDS DOING TO THIS ONE!

From reading whats gone wrong with this car you would think its not particually good, but a couple things metioned are quite commen on corrados like the brake calipars and the dipstick breaking!in fairness the reason why its got these probalems is down to inproper maintainance. on the whole I do like these cars there not particually commen so when you do see one people do tend to look!i had been looking 4 one for about a year, looked at a couple of g60s which I found slightly disapointing speed wise, not as quick as I was hoping, so endded up getting a 16v as I don't think there a that much slower then again there not at that quick either I just liked them for there rarity ands looks also there pretty dam good ride!if your thinking of buying one a lot of people will try to stitch you up for xample went and looked at g60 for sale and he wanted £1900 with 192,000miles and it definaly wasnt mint, not even particually good condtion!bought mine for £1200 which aint 2 bad admittedly it needs some bits doing to it, but nothing 2 major!try and avoid any with missing service history as this aint a particually good sign. overall a pretty reliable car with ride and looks to match!
