"Fun to drive, and cheap to upgrade!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I haven't had it for so long.

General comments?

Supercharger needs lots of TLC, always use synthetic engine oil, change it (and the oil-filter) every 5000km, and change (clean if K&N) the air filter regularly, and last but most importantly; NEVER drive a G60-engined car over 3000rpm when cold!! (Oil temp. must be above 90 degrees celcius).

If you follow these tips, the G-lader (supercharger) will not blow up after 50,000km.

These car are easy to upgrade. Smaller pulley on the G-lader and chip = 190bhp. This costs about $150.

First of all sir, if you read you're VW manual, you do not need the engine to heat up or cool down before the use of the G-charger. It is not connected to the engine oil in any way, hence why the use of synthetic motor oil will not prevent the G-charger wearing. It is a matter of good servicing to prevent the charger from wearing. All mechanical parts wear at different rates, none are identical.

The G-lader *does* get oil from the engine. And a G-60 engine *should* be warmed up before, flooring it.

Indeed the engine needs to be warm before you go over 3000 rpm and the charger also gets oil from the engine, which manual did you read?

Yes, it has to be warmed up before you floor it...I've hear 60 degrees celsius... AND you have to be careful when shifting, the transmission tends to fail if clutching is hard... I just blew mine up... ANd the door handles are crappy...

OK, who's right, does the G-Charger use the engines oil, or does it not?

I agree the handles are very bad, I have replaced both, and both gone again.

I advise you check your lower pulley on the cam belt as my key sheared on it resulting in my new engine rebuild project...

If you put BK299 17inch alloy wheels on it will improve the handling immensely, and look astounding like retro BBS.

Why doesn't Haynes publish a manual?

Engine should be warmed up to 90 degrees/Celsius before you push it to it`s limits. And Turbo use oil from the engine.

Very nice car.

Any car should be warmed up before running as athletes do their stretching to lessen or prevent injuries.

The G60-supercharger has two oil lines which deliver oil to the charger and then back to the engine block... The other one is easy to see as it runs from the left side of the engine block to the chargers low-left side... the color of the oil line is "silverish"...

Yes, the G60 is fed oil and returns it to the block via two braided steel oil lines. It is a good idea to warm the engine up first. Smaller pulleys can get good results. My Charger is ported to stage 4 spec. you can upgrade your FPR to 3.5 bar with a porsche one. Also get an RS2 outlet and bypass the ISV to avoid any boost leaks on return lines.

This car is so much fun/money...it becomes an obsession for almost anyone who owns one even for a short time... I'm on my second in as many years.
