Nothing.
The car is extremely quick for a 4cyl turbo. It is very solid feeling with high quality appointments. The convertible hardtop is a mechanical marvel and I love also having a fully functioning sunroof. The handling is wonderful and it is a dream to drive. I am always finding new features on the car and find the design very well thought out.
VW doesn't make the top.
Karmann Coachwerks does.
The unit is almost identical to the top used on the Pontic G6 and BMW convertables.
Fill us in how your EOS holds up as the years roll by. Thanks.
Well, the car is now at 23,500 miles and has started to go horribly wrong!, the top gave up working and jammed open! took back to vw numerous times and they said they can't seem to find the fault.
This means the top will jam every once in a while, (have to disconnect the battery to reset)
And to top it all the clutch has started to slip, all this on a neally 24k mile car! I don't even drive it hard, this is just pethetic for an auto maker who used to be top of the tree.
You shouldn't have to go through that with a new car.
The dealer and VW needs to find out what is causing the top to jam and fix it.
Based on what I've been reading about the reliability of VW's lately, I guess I won't be buying a VW anytime soon (and I've owned 10 Volkswagens).
My last VW Cabriolet was a fantastic little car, but as far as convertibles go - I'm staying with Saab right now.
It is a shame if the problems with the EOS don't get ironed out - they seem to be nice cars.
