2006 Volkswagen Fox Comfortline review from Mexico

It came with a misaligned headlamp.

It came with the brake proportioning valve incorrectly adjusted and the rear wheels locked very easily (no ABS).

The trunk light some times does not turn on when opening the rear hatch.

The transmission makes noises when shifting, it sounds like something is loose inside.

I think it is a good design since it uses the same platform than the VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, and Skoda Fabia, and the exterior design is similar to the current VW cars, but it seems to me that in order to make it a lower category than the Polo, VW made it noisy and with a suspension that feels like an old VW Beetle.

The 1.6L engine is willing, but it lacks enough power to work well at 2240m over sea level (Mexico City). Being an old design with only 8 valves and no VVT, the engine is very thirsty in the city, about 12L/100km.

The noise levels transmitted form the road are high, especially in the highway above 90km/h.

With a weight of 1060kg, I expected the suspension to be similar to my old 1994 Golf, but the calibration of the springs is too stiff and uncomfortable.
