2002 Volkswagen Golf GLS review from North America

I had just purchased my 2002 VW Golf Gls literally 1 week ago, when already the malfunction indicator light went off. I took it to VW and intially was told that it was my spark plugs, then later told it was my ignition coil. My car only had 44300 on it and I was already having problems.

The ignition coil plus the labor was $333 dollars. I called a vw service rep and was told that an ignition coil should ideally last the life of the car. The thing that is sad about this situation is that primarily it is the 1.8L cars that have the problem and this discludes the 2.0s of the same year. If something was done improperly with poor parts on a 1,8l why does this disclude a 2.0 that probably has the same poor parts, and craftmanship?

All I know is that I will be looking further into this, whether it is going into VW or sending letters or finding every 2002 2.0l VW Owner with the same problem. I work hard for my money and it is not going to be wasted on something that should have been done right in the first place!

Other than my complaint I do like the VW golf it is the perfect girl car lol > sorry boys! it has comfortable seating, I love the stereo and especially the sunroof. But VW you have to be held accountable for poor craftsmanship when it comes to the ignition coil, so do whats right and make your customers happy!
