"This car smokes more than my aunt Selma on Bingo night"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Everything electrical and the pipes rusted off causing the motor to overheat and the head gasket to go.

Then the delco (i think that s what you call it) wasn t well aadjusted (Thanks to my idiot mechanic... drove 10 000kms and then the engine blew.

Engine varies in idling depending on it s mood... usually idles at 1.8RPM even when warm.

Oh yeah the second gear would grind everytime you would shift in to unless you get it at the perfect speed 20km/h

Impossible to downshift from 3rd to 2nd without it grinding.

I get it towed on average once a month.

General comments?

I was 25 at the time and this car has given me my first gray hairs.

If you want to become best friends with a VW mechanic, or if you have a special inclination towards the CAA or AAA drivers then buy this car, you`ll be spending lots of quality time with them.

Ummmm...You don't have a clue. "rusted pipes don't cause a car to overheat. Coolant hose deterioration may cause leaks which in turn can cause overheating, which if not corrected would then cause the head gasket to blow. Not the car's fault. Regular maintenance is required on any car. What's a Delco? And you're ragging the car because whatever a Delco is, was adjusted wrong by the mechanic. Again, Not the cars fault. I've never seen an engine idle lower than 400 RPM (and this is still too low)... so getting yours too idle @ 1.8RPM is evidence of a helluva engine! I'll give you the transmission problem... not enough info to determine what caused it. But I suspect the clutch cable is worn or needs adjusting... again a maintenance issue... not particularly the car. Hope this helps you out. I know it helped me.
