2000 Volkswagen Golf GLS review from North America
"Never buy an automatic Volkswagen"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This car has been nothing but a disappointment to me since I bought it. It has had serious transmission problems and finally two days ago it broke down at the side of the road and I was stuck at midnight alone waiting for a tow truck. I understand that my warranty has expired, but I would expect a four year old car to last longer then 4 years. I took the car in when it first started to skip gears and Volkswagen mechanics told me that there was nothing they could do for me because the transmission is a lifetime deal and you can't take it apart to fix. Four hundred dollars later I was still stuck with a car that no one could fix, and now I have to bear the costs of replacing my transmission all together. I tried contacting Volkswagen Canada and they did not care at all, which I find highly disrespectful considering the fact that they should be trying to keep a loyal consumer base rather then attempting to tear it down. So unfortunately now I am without a car for the next couple weeks while I wait patiently to find a transmission. If anyone else has had this problem can you please reply and let me know. Thank you.
General comments?
I have a new car with no transmission and I am unsatisfied with the service Volkswagen provides its customers.
