2001 Volkswagen Golf GTI Turbo review from UK and Ireland
"Great car, massive potential!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My air flow mass meter has failed which I have heard is a common thing on the golf.
My pressure sensor valve has failed which has stopped my turbo from work to its full potential.
My anti-roll bar needs replacing which comes down to general wear and tear which is to be expected.
General comments?
The performance is very good, but doesn't seem to be as fast as a family members Seat Leon Cupra (180BHP) but when the cars in competition they are very evenly matched a slight modification to the engines ECU will see the engine push out a healthy 212BHP which I will be shortly adding to my car.
The handling is very impressive especially with the ASR switched on, bit scary without though I must admit.
The car has Recaro bucket seats which keep you in place when you are testing the cars performance and I think the interior has a very nice all round look and complements the car as a whole.
Overall I am impressed with the car and when I have made some tweeks and modifications I'm sure I will be very very happy with my investment.
