2003 Volkswagen Golf GT TDi 130 review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I got the car everything seemed fine, but:-
1. Driver's side door has dropped, hence won't shut like it should.
2. The plastic welds on the inside of the cloth insert on the driver's side door have failed (squeaks are us).
3. The single cd player continously says CHK MAGAZINE or NO DISC, and won't play.
4. The rubber coating on the centre console and ashtray lid has worn off.
5. The cigarette lighter doesn't work and has not ever been used.
6. The chrome ring on the gearknob emblem has started to peel off.
When I purchased this vehicle, I did so because of german build quality, but it has been disappointing to say the least.
General comments?
The performance is very good compared to other 1.9 turbo diesel's, although the mpg drops drastically when performance is needed.
The handling is OK for a hatchback, but could be a lot better when there is rain about.
The traction control seems useless and doesn't come int use where you need it to.
