2003 Volkswagen Golf Comfortline review from UK and Ireland
"Absolutely great car,, Absolutely the worst Customer Service!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
+ Drivers side wing mirror malfunctioned and had to be replaced.
+ Cigarette lighter never worked.
+ Interior plastic vent and plastic covers on ground around car pedals have come lose.
General comments?
I bought this car very recently just over 6 months. I have had no problems mechanically with the car so far. It is a lovely drive, handles well, very comfortable on long journeys, I nice quiet engine and excellent steering and brakes. I choose the beige interior which is very pleasing to the eye with good quality fabric on the seats and doors, the dash board and door surrounds are plastic, but do not look cheap all in all a quality interior.
The 1.4lt model I have to say is underpowered and I would recommend if you are thinking of purchasing a Golf to go for the 1.6lt or higher.
The only other problems I have had with the car are very minor some of the interior fittings around the drivers pedals have come lose and do not seem to want to re-fitted, the cigarette lighter does not work and the divers side wing mirror was malfunctioning and had to be replaced.
The last fault listed above is the sole reason for this review. The wing mirror was faulty from purchase. The Volkswagen dealer I bought the car from told me that it would be repaired for me at there service centre at no charge. Over 6 months later, after countless calls to the dealer and service centre and after 2 trips to the garage with no work done on the car, it has now finally been fixed. If a small job like this takes that long to get repaired I hate to imagine how long a major problem would take to be repaired.
The ''Customer Service'' I received from both the dealer and the service centre where absolutely appalling that is the only word to describe it. They where extremely unhelpful and boarding on rude.
All in all a great car comfortable and fun to drive, great acceleration, stylish both inside and out. Volkswagen cars are build like tanks and seem to just keep going and going. Only draw back is the poor after sale service which has nearly put me off buying another Volkswagen.
