1994 Volkswagen GTI review from North America
"Doom and Gloom Electrical System.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car had an electrical gremlin that showed its face pretty much the day after the used car warranty expired.
The engine would quit without warning, during the worst times (going thru an intersection, accelerating on a green light, passing traffic)
After changing MAF sensor, coil, distributor, fuel delivery relays, computer, crank timing sensor, and every other removable electrical item, I sold the car for 1/2 what I paid for it, two years earlier.
General comments?
The paint, fit and finish on this particular model is superb.
Ride quality is smooth and quiet.
The 4-wheel disc brake system is the greatest aspect to this car.
Poor electrical system.
