1995 Volkswagen GTI review from North America
"Hard to beat the price/performance ratio in this one"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing until recently (125,000 + miles)
One power window stopped working, alarm arms when you try to raise or lower it.
Heater fan switch went out.
Cruise control relay broke.
ABS failed, but the fix was pretty cheap.
General comments?
This is my second GTi, and both have required little maintenace beyone wear items like brakes, shocks, etc.
It's fast, cheap to insure, gets great gas mileage and is all-around fun to drive.
VW's aren't always as trouble-free as some of the Japanese cars, but everyone who drive it or rides in it is surprised at what a great car it is for the money.
