1997 Volkswagen GTI 1997 VR6 review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New battery.
Then just oil and coolant changes.
It probably could use a tune up for even better gas mileage.
General comments?
Great sporty car, but with being able to fold those back seats down, you can carry anything. I cut lawns on the side, and get a big lawn mower, weed whacker, garbage can and brooms and rakes in the back all at the same time. (lawn mower handle folded down. The stock stance of the car is to high, so I lowered with on adjustable coilovers, what a dream to drive now, no body roll or anything. Gas mileage is great for the 6 cylinder engine, with gas at about $1.10 a litre, its under $50 CND to fill it up and that will get 400K city 500 Highway even with the way I drive. Huge aftermarket for these cars and lots of online support from other enthusiasts. Great car for a student, great car for anyone, the Cabin is soooooo well planned out and feels so roomy for the size of the car, leather still looks mint. Get the suitcase resonator removed from your exhaust system, and realllly hear this baby growl around 4000 RPM.
