1998 Volkswagen Jetta GT review from North America
"Great if you have money to throw away"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Wheres the button to press that says what hasn't... OK.
Transmission went out
needed new muffler
needed new front struts
needed new front axle
needed wheel bearings
ignition switch was bad
needed new e brake cable slash whole new set up
latch for hood release is breaking
gas gauge died
speedometer died
glove box was broken when I bought it
heat shield for exhaust vibrated a lot
spoiler took flight fell off doing 175... NOT (but it did fall off)
shift knob cracked
Seats don't move smoothly
shift rod linkage came off.
Its currently in the shop with needing a possible 2nd transmission in the 5 months I've owned it.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
General comments?
If the car didn't break down it would be pretty sweet. It handled way suprisingly good for what it was, I will give it that much. I had the leather interior so that was nice and ill definitly miss the sound system. the stock speakers are quite good.
