1995 Volkswagen Jetta III GLS review from North America
"Too much mantenance!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Right after purchasing the car.
The Timing belt went out.
The sun roof doesn't work at all. had it checked even there was nothing they could do about it.
The automatic doors doesn't lock.
The Alarm system only works with the trunk.
Had the head gasket replaced and is still leaking anti-freeze. spent $2,500 on that.
Transmission slips. though my mechanic says it's normal for this type of car. What is normal about a transmission slip???
The axle broke on me after 2,000 miles.
The drivers side mirror collapsed.
The oil dummy light continually goes off beeping with nothing wrong with the oil system.
The acceleration cable under the hood, the tip popped off of cable, having to buy an entire untit just to fix a tip piece. (that could have easily been fixed from a junk yard, but god forbid you fix it yourself).
The Lighter shoots across the passanger side of the car when it's not even fully charged!
The suspension is just aweful.
It has had to be caulked by each bolt in the front of the dash to prevent further leaking. (It leaks!) causing the floor to be damaged and everything on the floor.
The heat gauge is always on half Hot!
Other than that "Bessy's been pretty reliable, except for today when it felt like her steering was going out, and the stearing fluid is full!"
General comments?
Does very well on the highway, but HIGH HIGH MAINTENANCE!!! Only own this car if you have a lot of money to waste!
This car has made it from New York to Wisconsin to California...
Just treat it like a baby, and throw all your extra cash into it... and it will do just fine.. * sighs *
