2003 Volkswagen Jetta GL review from North America
"Stunning Fun on a Budget"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
A few quirks I can't explain the Engine Light comes on regularly and Rear Brake Lights burn out plus the Temp Control on Dash doesn't always work.
General comments?
This car for the money was a great deal, I picked it up loaded full leather package, sunroof, power everything and an outstanding 8 speaker Monsoon sound system that puts my home stereo to shame.
As for handling this thing is better than my old Audi A4 and probably on par with the Volvo S40 (my 2000 one) and for the money I think it would be tough to get a more responsive car. I compared it head on with the new Honda Civics and Used as well as looking at the slightly bigger Passat.
This was by far the most bang for the buck. The new VW City struck me as a striped down version of the loaded Jetta - for basically $1000 less by going used I was picking up a lot more car and value.
