2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI review from North America
"Lemon, junk, trash, too expensive for its poor quality and performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Both driver and passenger window have fallen. Driver window had to be fully replaced as it broke while the passenger being tinted got scratched. This problem has been apparent to VW since the 1990's however nothing has been done to fix it and prevent future occurrences. VW prefers to lose a consumer as they refused to retint my passenger window claiming the reason being that the tint was not from factory. As a matter of fact this is true however the faulty windows is what caused my tint to be scratched. This just shows how much VW is dedicated to provide excellent customer service.
Glow plunge light has come on numerous times.
Brake light switch recall. It was fixed and then it was recalled again after the first recall. This clearly shows how skilled VW technicians are in fixing a problem.
Light luminating the heat controls and fan decided to not work.
Trunk latch didn't work properly as trunk could not be opened on a cold day (trunk latch would get stuck and wouldn't allow trunk to close.
At 80,000 km wheel bearings needed replacement which unlikely occurs at such a low mileage. VW couldn't repair the wheel bearings as warranty had expired two days after calling into schedule an appointment. VW's reason for not wanting my car to be brought into the dealership on the day I had called is due to having a back log in repairs. As such my car was scheduled to be brought the following week fully knowing that warranty had expired, but I was not told this. Volkswagen Canada decided to step in and stated that such repairs couldn't be made because the car had to be brought into the dealer before warranty expires. However the important part that they have decided to forget is that the dealer insisted the car to be brought the following week as they were busy the week I had called.
For all those wanting to become future VW owners here are a few words of advice from a consumer who has experienced VW inappropriate actions: VW is far from Consumer friendly and their sales are showing this. Many buyers will NEVER purchase a VW again, just do your research, as there are plenty of facts stated by Consumers of this faulty product. If you want a reliable car put your money to good use and buy a vehicle in which you feel will be reliable and that will not cause such problems as stated above and in other posted comments.
