2008 Volkswagen Jetta review from North America
"Buyer beware"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
4200 miles and both rear brakes completely worn to metal grinding on metal damaging the rotors.
General comments?
The dealership and Volkswagen both came to the conclusion that this was the result of my "bad driving habits" and not a defect in production nor a warranty issue despite the car being 4 months old and at 4200 miles.
No proof.
No explanation why other people in several forums reviewing Jettas have had similar problems.
No explanation why other mechanics and car enthusiasts think this is ridiculous to have brakes wear out at 4200 miles no matter how you're driving.
Don't ever tell your dealer ANYTHING when you bring a car in under warranty for service--they will use it against you.
