Replaced the trunk release switch shortly after I bought it.
Window handle broke off.
Back seat cup holder broke the first time of using it.
Floor mat snaps broke within the first month.
24 hours after the two year warranty expired with only 21,000 miles on it, the check engine light came on -- replaced the MAF sensor, trunk light switch, and coolant temperature sensor.
It squeaks when I drive over even the littlest bumps.
There is some kind of black goo seeping out of the door hinges.
When I first bought this car I loved it, now I don't feel confident in it anymore.
When I owned my Honda I had things go wrong with it, but they were normal wear and tear things. I always felt secure that the car would never leave me stranded.
I don't feel the same about my V.W. anymore. I feel like I'm driving a really old unreliable car.
Buy a Hyundai, you will be happy, Volkswagens are too expensive to maintain.
Don't buy a Hyundai the only reason they come with such a big warranty on them is because everything is cheap! VW's may be expensive to maintain, but the car isn't made out of plastic! I have had to put money into my jetta also, but its worth the money a VW is only for the VW enthusiast. Meaning VW drivers know their cars are expensive to maintain as well as mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche and other German cars. Note* I just had a buddy buy a Hyundai Tiburon GT 2005 and the transmission already went as well as plastic interior parts have been breaking not to mention the leather inside feels like plastic.
