1998 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg review from North America
"Best wanna-be luxury car on the market!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Seats are badly worn.
Cassette player broke.
Replaced radio, reception is still poor. Better reception is achieved when I detach my roof mount antenna.
Cruise Control works when it wants. When it does work, it shuts itself off after about 5 minutes.
Windows tend to "bounce" up and down.
Rust is starting on trunk of car.
General comments?
The car rides like a true luxury car. All of my friends and family who hate foreign cars are now VW believers! It corners like nothing I have ever driven, and the ride is exceptionally smooth.
Being that I'm only 4'9", the height adjustable seats and tilt steering are a valuable asset! A must have for anyone short or tall.
Even though the engine is only a 2.0 4-cylinder, it whoops on anything close to it (Cavaliers, Neons, etc...)
Since replacing my head unit with a Kenwood CD player, the radio bumps for a factory system.
Plenty of trunk space for tailgating and weekend getaways. I mean, I could sleep in this trunk if need be.
