2000 Volkswagen Jetta GS review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Where should I start?? Hmm how about the my heated seats going in the middle of the winter followed by replacing my rear brakes at only 15 000 kilometers. Of course I can't leave out the fact that the "check engine" light was on for about 4 months even after taking it to a "reputable" VW dealership who misdiagnosed the problem 3 times (at my expense) only to charge me for fixing the gas flap and replacing various sensors. It got to the point where I almost put a piece of tape over the friggin' "check engine" light just so I didn't have to see it when driving. Let's see... what else was there? Did I mention replacing the back brakes for the second time due to them seizing?? Or how about my shift knob popping off in the middle of a gear change (real safe). Starting my lovely Jetta is also a real treat as I love to hear the squealing sound it makes after the engine turns over (which no-one seems to know what it is). Let's not leave out the fact that I upgraded the interior to a "velour" which is complete crap. It's more like VELCRO - everything sticks to it!!! And last, but not least, the engine guzzles more oil than a fat kid gulping up a slurpee at the local 7-11. Oh yeah, my glove compartment kinda just flops open now too. It sucks to be me.
