Hi All.
I have a 2001 VR6 Jetta GLS bought new in California.
This one was assembled in Mexico.
It has 114,700 miles on it.
I have to echo one of the earlier posts. Apart from the power window motor replacement, due to a recall not because they didn’t work
The only other repairs have been normal maintenance, and repair of accidental damage. Like turning the rotors, new brake pads, the arm that connects the trunk opener motor to the latch, but not the motor or the latch, a battery two or three years ago, new tires several years ago.
Also headlight bulbs and a new oil pan, due to a piece of debris in the road that came out of the bed of the truck in front of me, OMG I was angry, and the trooper said it was against South Carolina law to shoot the idiot for not closing his tail gate. So he wrote him a ticket for that and for no insurance. $300 just for parts, which of course was below my deductible. That was the first and only time my car was ever towed.
The only other time it was not under its own power was the auto-train from cali to SC.
That’s it. Oh and I need a new gas filler door, because some jerk tried to pry it open to steal gas, and broke the latch on it so now it doesn’t lock.
I have had none of the problems I have read on this page.
I am so sorry any of you have had such problems with your VW. I know several other people around town that have VR6 Jettas, and they to have had no problems like that at all.
I love my little pony and it does go as fast as they say it should. I am completely satisfied with my Jetta.
I have have absolutely no problems with my 01 Jetta VR6. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The only things I have replaced are the water pump and front suspension parts because of South Dakota's terrible road. I have broke a few axles but that's my fault from trying to run a 320 whp Jetta with stock axles. Other than that it is the best car I have ever owned hands down. Very fun even in the stock form and if well kept is trouble free.
