1995 Volkswagen Jetta GLX review from North America

The coil pack has burned out three times now. The first time was covered by warranty and the pack was replaced along with the spark plugs and wires at no charge. It cost about $900.00 each additional time. Volkswagen did not diagnose it quickly and the ignition was smoking when it started getting bad.

Parking brake seizes on very cold nights after about 120,000 miles.

Rear brake calipers seized at about 130,000 miles.

Leak along seam in brake light lens burned out a few bulbs until I found a replacement at a junk yard.

Door trim peeled off slowly. Perhaps a roll of duct tape would get it to re-adhere, but I doubt it. Replaced trim (with new rubber sticky) for $75.00. Other 3 door's trim are all peeling now.

One of the rear windows won't roll down when using the key-in-the-door switch.

Slow oil leak at 120,000 miles.

Despite the expensiveness of parts and service, I absolutely love this car.

The 2.8 liter engine and standard transmission supply me with all the acceleration I've ever asked for.

Handling is superb you get a real feel for the road... farfignugen?

The trunk is roomier than I would have expected and I've found this car helping enormously when I've relocated.

Back seats are only for people without legs though. I wish the car was a little bit shorter and a two-

seater.

Cup holders are meant for 12 ounce cans, so your coffee cup has to squeeze between the parking brake and the passenger seat.

This car has been in two front-end collisions and shrugged them off to keep on running.
