1994 Volkswagen Jetta GL review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Initially I thought it was a very good car.
At 181000Km the crankshaft stripped and
punchered the valves. Totally wrecking the engine. Initially there was a problrm with rough idling. Took it to the dealer and said the pump timing was off. They set the pump timing and 2 days later, the car wouldn't start. I had it towed to the dealership and They told me that I needed a new motor.
General comments?
When this car is running okay It is great to drive. But iam concerned now that at 180000km I have to put a new motor in it. Iam very upset that how a crankshaft go. The dealer told me that volkswagen has come out with a modification, you can only get it if you buy a remanufactured engine. What they do is they put a TDi crank into it.
