2001 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg review from North America
"Nothing like it for the price, but no 100% reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Turbo diverter valve needed to be replaced (fixed under warranty).
Air conditioning needed to be recharged (fixed under warranty).
General comments?
I went in to my purchase of the Jetta with open eyes. I expected to experience some issues, and there were a couple. But I think the positives of the car far outweigh the few minor problems.
There are three things that VWs are notorious for. One is window regulators (windows falling into doors). The second is bad mass air flow sensors (MAFs). The third is bad coils. VW replaced all my coils free (never had a problem), and extended the warranty on the window regulators and mass airflow sensor 5 more years (I never had a problem with these either). So I think VW is trying.
I love the way the car handles, and the interior is fantastic. The engine is smooth, with incredible acceleration. The car is incredible in the snow, and feels very safe.
