2003 Volkswagen Jetta GLI review from North America

I have had the VW Jetta GLI since November 2003 and so far, nothing is wrong with its exterior or interior features. The only accessory that has been damaged is the driver's rear view window. The mirror is cracked because of some careless driver passing by my car too closely (He or she was not kind enough to leave address/contact information; go figure). As for the shell covering the mirror, it is still intact (thank goodness) or I would have a large bill to pay for repairs.

This car should be called a rocket on wheels. The information on-line says the manual drive version packs 180hp, but others have quoted it to be 200hp (including the dealership). The VW Jetta GLI handles smoothly and hugs the curved roads with good precision. I have raced other cars like, the Mustang GT 2003, the BMW 325 series (2001-2003), the Jetta 1.8TI (2002-2003), and several other Cadillac and Cheverolet models. This car can definitely hold its own on the streets against most foreign and domestic model cars. What I love most about the manual drive is that you can also use the 1st and 2nd gears alone to drive all the way to your destination (if your drive is a short one, though). The Jetta GLI can be a gas guzzler so you may want to keep track of how much racing you're planning to do in a week. It can get very expensive on gas especially with the fluctuating gas prices out here in California.
