Seems like the same thing over and over. I have a '03 1.8T and have not had most of these problems (knock on wood) but I have started to hear a cracking sound when I raise the drivers side window. The glass doesn't have any scratch marks on it but it definately sounds like something is cracking.

I was on here looking for a solution to my son's issue he is having with his '00 2.0 Jetta. The other day the dome light, sunroof, power windows, and truck unlock all stopped working. I found fuse #13 blown, so I replaced it and a few seconds later the new one blew. Any ideas?

It seems this mystery spring is a common error. I too have found the mystery spring under the front passenger seat on an 03 Jetta 1.8T. I could not seem to find a similar spring on the drivers side... Maybe it previously went missing.

Anyways does anyone know how to fix the mystery spring?

Yeah, so I bought a 2000 Jetta GLS from some guy, and after I got it, let's see what went wrong...

Check engine light came on.

It burns oil.

There is also an oil leak on top of that.

Glove compartment hinge is broken.

Middle console is broken.

Temperature light always blinks when I turn on the car (does this happen to anyone?)

Have a problem with the Mass Air Meter.. I saw receipts and the prior owner got it fixed twice.

Same issues... Every piece of plastic on the inside has broken (arm rest, cup holder, glove box)

Climate controls still function, but do not light up.

Found a spring ;)

Got to use the expensive oil to make it to 3000 miles and I found it leaking oil the other day. So that will be the next expense..

Love the car, but will probably look at a different make next time.

I have many of the same problems with my 2000 Jetta (mystery spring, broken glove compartment hinge, disappearing window (s), etc). Does anyone else have the passenger foot well filling with water after really violent storms? a regular rainstorm doesn't do it, but if there is a storm with blowing rain we get about 2 inches of rain in the passenger side. No drip marks to indicate it is coming from a leak in the sun roof, can't figure out where the water is getting in.
