2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS review from North America
"The mood enhancer... A perfect, fast, reliable car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have had this car since May 1st 2004 and I must say that nothing went wrong with it. I was having anxiety attacks when I bought it since I was reading all kind of bad reviews for it, but I did not have any problem with it.
Even when I got hit in a parking lot I must say I was surprised to see that a tail light costs only 82 dollars which included the labor.
General comments?
I am 6'3'' (1.88m) guy and I must say it is very comfortable to ride this car. Of course, you do not have much space in the back if you have 2 people over 6.3 in the front, but with my wife driving you could have a lunch table on the back seat. :)
The 2.0l engine is famous for its reliability and relative good gas mileage. I got 33 mpg on highway (no more than 70mi/h though) and 22-23 mpg in city with A/C). It easily cruise at 115 mph, but I only tried it to see how it handles at that speed (I was not alone in the car, so I did not want to go faster).
Probably only Audi and high-end cars could handle like this one. It sticks to the road at speeds over 80mph.
It is a mood enhancer once you turn the engine on...
