1999 Volkswagen Jetta GLS review from North America
"The Jetta needs to be discontinued"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had the car one week before it died at a red light. I took it back to the dealer and it was fixed under warranty.
The sunroof fell off the tracks and would not operate correctly.
My alarm would go off continuously.
My front passenger window fell of the track when a bracket broke.
The catalytic converter had to be replaced.
The stereo quit working.
The air conditioning went out. It was replaced with a cost of nine hundred dollars.
The glove compartment door broke. The glove compartment light doesn't work.
The console lid broke off. cup holders broke about one year after buying the car.
The oil dip stick tube broke for no reason.
The trunk light quit working.
The sunroof goes up and down when I am driving.
The doors do not lock properly.
The engine light will come on for no reason.
General comments?
I like how the car handles curves.
When it is running good I like how it drives.
I would never recommend this car to anyone. You never know from day to day what will happen.
If you own a Jetta you should have plenty of money set aside at all times for repairs.
I spent thirteen hundred dollars on an extended warranty, that I never got to use because the company went bankrupt.
