2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
We had 3 engine failures in 3 years with our '02 VW Jetta.
The first failure occurred when the car was 11 months old and it was the ignition coils.
The following year, the #4 fuel injector failed.
A few days ago, the #2 fuel injector failed.
The worse thing about these failures is that they occur suddenly and without any warning.
My son uses this car to travel back and forth to college, which is 350 miles away. He barely made it home when the engine was running very poorly as a result of the fuel injector failing.
This is an extremely dangerous and unreliable car and not worth the $22,450 + tax we paid for it.
There was also a problem with the driver's side window. It fell open and was inoperable. This was inconvenient since it occurred in a college dorm parking lot and was raining. My son had to find someone to allow him to park the Jetta in their garage, and then drive 100 miles to the nearest VW dealership to have it fixed.
The warranty will expire in '07 and I am planning to trade it in for a Honda Civic as soon as I can!
This car is a huge disappointment and I will never purchase another VW product again.
