Not a thing I Love it!
I would recommend the new Jetta.
I just bought the new 2006 and I am so very happy.
This is my first new car and I think we are going to be very happy for a Long time!
Glad to hear you have had good luck so far... mine was nothing, but trouble, typical of German cars. I traded mine in on a Pontiac Sunfire and it is twice the car for less money!
I've owned a new Sunfire as well as a new Jetta. The Sunfire is crude, unrefined, noisy and uncomfortable.
Take it from one who has owned both- The Jetta is better!
Yeah, I am very happy with it. My Hubby is able to work on it of anything goes wrong after the warranty is gone. I have no worries. I live in West palm beach Florida and my dealer is fantastic. Sorry to hear you got a bad one. Sometimes its the luck of the draw. I had read somewhere on here that the 05's they went to a timing chain instead of a belt.. Is this true? We have the 06 model. If anyone knows that reads this I would be grateful for the info. Thanks for you input. Glad you are happy with your car!! :) I love mine so far :)
German cars are not typical for problems. American cars are and so as the Italians and Koreans and British.
Japanese, German and Swedish are the most sturdy cars on market.
And good luck, with your crappy Pontiac Sunfire, and after a week, I realized the mistake I did wasting my money on that POS. The car was awful and nowhere as fun to drive, as its looks suggested. And as usual in American cars, the engine blew with only month... Typical GM reliability, no wonder GM is going down the hill every day.
I replaced that Ponticrap with a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer, now that's a very good car and totally reliable.
I kept my 2002 Sunfire for only 7 months.
I bought it new in August of '01, because I needed a car
fast (my old car had died - it was 16 years old), and the dealer was very close to my home. I figured I would only keep it a few months unless it really grew on me (it didn't), and that I would take a beating on depreciation
(I did).
I traded it in for a new 2002 Jetta Wagon, and never regretted my decision. It is my humble opinion that anyone who thinks a Sunfire or Cavalier (or the new Cobalt for that matter) is a better vehicle than a Jetta, Corolla, or Civic, hasn't owned any of them.
In fact, even the bargain basement priced Scion xA & xB, are more refined, better equipped, and most likely more durable and reliable than the current GM subcompacts sold in the US.
YOU will be happy till you take it in for maintenance. It will need breaks by 30k miles. I can just imagine it will have a plethora of electrical problems too. If your thinko putting a $1000 dollars a year into repairs a year is OK. then you should be happy. I am sure you will get at least 20k miles before the problems start. Good thing the give a 50k, right? warranty now.
9th Dec. 2005, 13:23 someone wrote "You will be happy till you take it in for maintenance. It will need breaks by 30K miles. Etc. Etc. Etc. You did not say what year you had. Is it the 2005 new body style or newer?
To the last reply - the 30K maintenance was referring to a Pontiac Sunfire. GM cars burn through brake pads like butter.
The Jetta is great.
