2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6 review from North America

Catalytic converter needed to be replaced at 25k miles

ignition coil needed to be replaced at 48k miles.

I have a 2001 Jetta GLX VR6 and I love my Jetta. This is the second Jetta that I have owned. However, VW says that it is not included in the WG campaign to replace ignition coils for the 2001, 2002, and 2003 VW's and Audi's even though their press release states that my car is included. I had the coil pack replaced at the dealership, but I am still trying to work through a customer advocate to have VW include my car in this recall. My coil is affected and even though the original press release includes my car, VW doesn't want to pay for the $820 repair.

They are supposed to get back to me within 48 hours with an answer. Unfortunately, it looks like I will have to file a claim in small claims court. Anyone else with a faulty ignition coil for a 2001 Jetta VR6 been left out in the cold? Check out this press release if you plan to take it up with customer service:

VW has had 2 years to issue an update to this original press release and has failed to do so. Why is it so difficult for them to honor their own press releases to customers.
