2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLX review from North America
"A dream turned into nightmare"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch burned out at 4000 miles.
Brakes went out at 10,000 and front brakes have gone out twice thru life of car.
I've gone through 3 batteries.
Window Motors have blown while driving - at about 45,000 miles.
Engine Coil broke at 65000 miles, my specific VIN was NOT part of recall so it was not covered.
I've had problems with MFC, EPC light coming on.
I've replaced headlights, blinker lights.
My car ALSO smells like crayons STILL at 76K miles.
General comments?
I loved this car when I got it.
Now I wait for the next thing to go wrong...
VW Service is awful as they told me my clutch at 4K miles was due to "drivers misuse" and only covered under "Act of Good Faith" after I told them I'd been driving manual car since I was 12!
I love the way it drives when it's working well, but now EPC light is back on.
