1997 Volkswagen Jetta TDI review from North America
"Best car ever."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This has been very very reliable. The only things I have done on this car was, ball joints (205,000KM), and two of my glow plugs fried out one me at 330,000KM, and I had to replace the Glow Plug Relay at 348,000KM. I just took off my intake manifold to clean it, cleaned it, and now good as new, literally. And of course regular maintenence.
General comments?
I treat my car with utmost care, and it has been a very good car. I do all of the work myself on it, and I have a friend who gets me parts at cost, so the cost factor isn't large. I can honesly say that this car drives just as good as the day it came out of the factory, if not better (due to my cold air intake that I made for it, and my custom exhaust). This car still shines up perfectly (a few stone chips, but heck, for 360,000km, still really good), and the body is in excellent shape, and so is the underbody. And get this.. I'm still on the original clutch. And, at 360,000KM, it doesnt burn a drop of oil, and still gets 66mpg. I don't intend to get rid of this car anytime soon, and just goes to show how great a car is if you properly maintain it.
All in all, I LOVE my Jetta. :-D.
