1995 Volkswagen Passat LS review from UK and Ireland

Entire instrument panel ceased to work at 75000 miles, had to wait 5-6 weeks for replacement from dealer since it was a VR6.

Entire front drivers wing had to be replaced when rammed by a Mitsubishi Pajero.

Intermittent starting problem, replaced entire coil pack, about a month later same problems started. This has meant that the dealer had to look at it. He replaced the Coolant temperature switch, still same problems in the same day at a cost of £120. Has mentioned that will probably have to replace ignition system, immobiliser and keys at a cost of £320.

The car is comfortable, though after the plush leather seats on my XM not nearly as much. The engine has decent performance and is more accessible than the XM's. Instruments are clear and concise.

Unfortunately no glove compartment, in fact few creature comforts. There seems to be a problem with the heater, as there is constant misting up despite using the vents to keep the screen clear.

Bodywork is in a good condition with a minor rust trace barely starting to appear on the rear passenger door. My recent misfortunes have made me wonder whether to look into getting a replacement as support is a nightmare. Parts are expensive and dealer support more so.
