1993 Volkswagen Passat GLX review from North America
"Unreliable and a quality nightmare!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Starting problems (turned out to be a solenoid)
Heater core gone at 72k miles! An involved repair. Dash, console, gages, steering wheel all had to come out. A/C needed venting to get to the heater core!
Transmission computer was broken. $400 item at the dealership!
Interior started disintegrating. Headliner and door panels were coming apart.
Sunroof was broken. An aluminum bracket fatigue problem. Poor choice of materials.
ABS worked intermittently.
General comments?
Quality nightmare. Handles great, great freeway car. Not even cheap to own for the mechanically inclined!
