"Too bad they don;t make it anymore"
What things have gone wrong with the car?

Cylinder head gasket blew after excessive speeding in 1997 at 220000.
Clutch pedal broke off in 1999 at 280000.
Engine ran hot due to extreme thickening pollution of cooling fluid in 2002 at 327000.

Everything that was glued in the car fell off with time and had to be glued back.
Valve seals became ineffective, engine emits thick clouds of blue smoke 7 seconds after swiftly lifting gas pedal at +4000 revs.
Rear part of body sensitive to corrosion with time, needs constant attention for fighting the brown plaque.
Several oil leaks in engine and gearbox: both need two weekly checks and refills.
Clutch became heavy to operate, reverse gear sometimes difficult to engage.
Engine lost compression after 280000, feels very flat.
General comments?
Very lovely and silent car for traveling long distances. Fuel economy is excellent, 8l/100km.
Interior is very good, all upholstery still looks nice and fresh.
Parts are cheap, although VAG has already withdrawn many interior and body parts.
The car is very easy to maintain, and straightforward bluid.
