1999 Volkswagen Passat S review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Cv joints
drivers door central locking control module bad design
failed mot due to un proffesional work on cv jointswhich also messed up brakes had to get work redone by expensive untrustworthy garage
General comments?
I can live with noisy engine so long as it sips fuel, but when it comes to getting work done to car like CV joints make sure you get a proper mechanic. I made the mistake of getting the truck fitter in work to do it - what should have cost me £350 max cost £800. It cost £190 for parts, £180 for labor and he used cable ties to secure boots over the CV joints, disconnected the ABS sensor and put it in wrong resulting in scored discs. This cost £480 at a garage to put right.
