Cv joints
drivers door central locking control module bad design
failed mot due to un proffesional work on cv jointswhich also messed up brakes had to get work redone by expensive untrustworthy garage
I can live with noisy engine so long as it sips fuel, but when it comes to getting work done to car like CV joints make sure you get a proper mechanic. I made the mistake of getting the truck fitter in work to do it - what should have cost me £350 max cost £800. It cost £190 for parts, £180 for labor and he used cable ties to secure boots over the CV joints, disconnected the ABS sensor and put it in wrong resulting in scored discs. This cost £480 at a garage to put right.
There's nothing wrong with using cable ties to secure CV boots providing they are a good fit, and are tightened up very thoroughly using pliers. The security of the tie and boot should also be checked thoroughly after fitment, both to make sure nothing moves, and to ensure grease doesn't seep out. If either is the case, the job is no good. That said, "proper" clips can do exactly the same if an incompetent person fits them.
The other problems you had are inexcusable. I don't think I'd be letting this chap near a car of mine.
